Destroying Internet Explorer 6

We (web developers) have been battling the hideous beast that has plagued the internets for the better part of a decade. That beast named IE6. Microsoft has never gotten it right - we have and are being punished for it. Internet Explorer 7 is far better, IE8 even a bit better and now IE9 is practically 100% standards-compliant, finally. Suffice it to say, I'll be breathing a bit easier once IE9 is released. I only hope Microsoft pushes users hard to upgrade. Anyone visiting my site in the last month using IE7 might have noticed that my -fixed- header was far off to the right - I fixed that today. IE7 needs a top and left declaration of zero to align properly. Word, Carl Martens represent, what.

You web savvy folks know how widely and passionately IE6 is hated. It (and Microsoft) have been holding back the web for years (way too long). Anyone browsing the internet using Internet Explorer (IE6 or to a degree IE7) are not seeing the web the way it's meant to be seen - or the way developers intend you see it. I feel bad for the small percentage of people still using IE6 and for those folks who don't know they can use an alternative browser (hint: don't use Internet Explorer). The security issues alone, in IE6, should persuade folks to update or switch browsers all together. IE6 and 7 also have extreme rendering issues, especially text, and will not render more modern CSS standards (CSS3). I'll save my anti-Microsoft bit because most people reading this know me and hear it too much as it is. So anyway, for those who don't know please help spread the word by using browsesad.com's conditional CSS statement (filter=gray) or one of several other anti-ie6 informational sites/resources/scripts/modules/plugins out there. Implement them on your website or scream it from rooftops everywhere - "DEATH TO INTERNET EXPLORER". Have t-shirts made up that say "Microsoft ate my baby - DESTROY IE!", or "IE6 GAVE ME AIDS". I've longed for a Microsoft virus that would permanently disable users from using IE and instead open Firefox, Chrome or Safari. I've said too much...

Go download a "happy" browser

Thanks and happy non-ie6 internet browsing. Browse happy!
